Privacy Policy

The short version

Sportdle works without an account. Anonymous game progress and streaks stay in your browser. If you create an account, your profile, completed games, scores, and streak history are stored so they can follow you across devices. Google Analytics runs only if you accept analytics cookies.

What is stored on your device

Sportdle uses your browser’s localStorage to save puzzle progress, guesses, anonymous streak history, and your cookie choice. Clearing browser storage erases that device-only data. When you are signed in, completed daily results are also saved to your account; the streak display is synchronized from that account history on each browser.

Optional accounts

Account data includes your email address, username, optional profile location, friendships, profile customizations, completed games, scores, and streak history. Authentication and account data are processed by Supabase. Public profile pages show your username, profile customizations, aggregate game statistics, and equipped badges, but never your email address.

Cookies and Google Analytics

Sportdle uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how the games are used (for example, which puzzles are popular and how visitors move around the site) so we can improve them. Google Analytics is loaded only after you click “Accept” in the cookie banner. Until then, the Google Analytics script is not loaded and its cookies are not created.

When enabled, Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_<id>) to distinguish visitors and measure usage. It may process information including a truncated/anonymised IP address, device and browser type, approximate location (country/region), and the pages you view. Google acts as our data processor for this; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. Google may use this data subject to its own policies - see Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. Withdrawing consent disables Google Analytics and clears its cookies from this site. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we treat that as a refusal and do not load Google Analytics at all, without asking. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not collect personal data.

Network requests

When you play, Sportdle fetches daily puzzle data and player search lists from its own API. These requests do not require personal information. Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL) may be recorded by our hosting provider (Vercel) as part of normal web infrastructure and abuse prevention (rate limiting).

Third-party services

Sportdle is hosted on Vercel, uses Supabase for optional accounts, and uses Google Analytics only with your consent as described above. Player images and data may be loaded from external public sources. These services have their own privacy policies.

Sportdle shows promotional banners for GameBoost, and earns a commission if you buy something after following one. These banners are plain images served by Sportdle itself, not an advertising network: they run no third-party code, set no cookies, and do not track or profile you. If you click one you leave Sportdle for GameBoost, where their own privacy policy applies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or withdraw consent for analytics. Signed-in users can delete their account and its associated gameplay data from the account page. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time via “Cookie settings”. Children

Sportdle is a general-audience game and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will address it.
